PASSION FOR MUSIC EDUCATION
Ms. Darlene loves a variety of musical styles. In her teaching career she focuses on building confidence and setting attainable goals for her students along with giving them the opportunity to celebrate what they have learned with others. In the past she has taught music students who were interested in learning classical, folk, pop, gospel, and musical theater. She has worked with students to prepare for auditions and competitions for school musicals, song and dance competitions, talent shows, and university, community and church choirs. Ms. Darlene has even worked with an adult student who thought he couldn't sing but wanted to learn how to for a number of reasons. Ms. Darlene was overjoyed to prove to him he could sing!
Most importantly, Ms. Darlene wants students to experience the joy of music - creating, listening, feeling and experiencing!
As a teacher, Ms. Darlene has offered her students:
African Drumming Workshop from the University of Lethbridge to her music classroom
Remembrance Day Choir featured on Lethbridge Global Television
Believe In You performed by Grade 3 and 4 Music Classes with Mrs. Schmidt
(Music and lyrics written by Mrs. Schmidt) (Year End Assembly)
